The perfect end to a Football-tastic week

The senior boys team played 6 games since my last post - 5 of which they won.  Record setting season by the first tournament - I hope they can keep the momentum going!  I think there are at least 3 more games for the team in the Jackie Memorial Football Tournament at St. Georges College (its actually just a school) in Mussoorie.

Meanwhile at CC dorm (pronounced "The double C"):

  • A few boys are watching the first Bundesliga match of the season in the main lounge.  "Bayern Munich is insane" - Freddy our German student.
  • The majority of the students are out on the court playing football - probably practicing for Goal-A-Thon, a Woodstock fundraiser in which students and staff sponsor teams who then compete in a 5-a-side tournament.  It takes place at the end of the month.  I will ask the dorm staff to sped some bleach powder over the court tomorrow because the boys were slipping on the über-slick mold/slime today.
  • I just saw this posted on the 'ol F-book: Link to the greatest photo shoot in history!

Back on the hillside

First things first when moving into my new apartment here - thoroughly clean out the coffee grinder.  That was a few weeks ago.  Dozens of cups later, the living room is looks slightly more organized.  On July 21st, I was able to roast a few coffee beans at my sister's place in WV just days before flying back.  Zach can attest that it was a successful roasting - soooooo much chocolate taste (but not those added flavors or anything!!)
Below is a shot of the Eyebrow Path which leads from Community Center, the dorm in which I'm now living and working, to Char Dukan.  During monsoon, the hillside is apt to crumble with the heavy rains.  Also visibility can be low when the clouds envelope the mountainside.  Beautiful in all seasons, these trees in the foreground will be full of bright red rhododendron blossoms come late winter/spring.
But when the clouds move on... there is a clear view of the doon valley from this altitude.  I would guess CC (Community Center Dorm) is at least 500ft higher than Hostel Dorm, which I like.  In the very background is the Sivalik Hills - the lowest, southern most foothills of the Himalaya.
Also a fun fact: St. George's  School, center of the photo, is where the senior boy's football team is playing a match right now.  Go Tigers!
